Tempeh (/ˈtɛmpeɪ/), is a traditional soy product originally from Indonesia. It is made by a natural culturing and controlled fermentation process that binds soybeans into a cake form, similar to a very firm vegetarian burger patty. Tempeh is unique among major traditional soy foods in that it is the only one that did not originate from the Sinosphere cuisine.
It originated in today's Indonesia, and is especially popular on the island of Java, where it is a staple source of protein. Like tofu, tempeh is made from soybeans, but it is a whole soybean product with different nutritional characteristics and textural qualities. Tempeh's fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fiber, and vitamins. It has a firm texture and an earthy flavor which becomes more pronounced as it ages. Because of its nutritional value, tempeh is used worldwide in vegetarian cuisine, where it is used as a meat analogue.
And because tempeh has become part of our people in ages, we have so many kind of menu variant made of this tempeh. Start from light snack until the main course with variety in process and spices. You will never boring with this full of nutritious meat substitute.
This is actually my cupcake version of my previous post but with a minor adjustment. You know I love steamed cake. It somehow gives us a soft dense texture but with moist yummy cake. You can check my other steamed cake in "steamed" category. Please do try steam your cake and taste the different.

Are you parent who frustrated dealing with your kids who hated their vegetables? Welcome on my board ... ! My kid, made me so proud when she was easily eat her carrot or enjoyed her greens, tomato and more, but that was when she's around 30 months old!
I remember her 1st solid food at 7 month old was spinach rice porridge with chicken liver. And during that complementary feeding, she ate many kind of food without rejected anything. I know, if she didn't like something, she gave me sign with her "wanna vomit" expression. I mean, she was not really picky on food, until she turns 2 yo.
Well...now I'm dealing with picky, easy to boring and difficult to eat the greens and fruits. She only like eats carrot but it is also not much... She loves chicken only. Sometimes eats sausage much, sometimes hate it. Sometimes like to eat fish, sometimes throw it away..... :(
What to do?? I just try to understand her and keep trying changing as many menu as I can. and try to put any vegetables in every meal I made as much as I can. I made banana cake, carrot cake, fried crispy fish, spinach pastry, leek pastry..anything! Some recipe I already shared here, you can browse around if you would.
And now I'd like to insert spinach in a cake. She like eating cake--even not really much as I wish. But at least I try to put green as many as I can in anything I made... After made this cake, not only her who like it so much...even her baba! ... well double happy of me :)
And here my Spinach cake recipe. Try it and tell me what you think...
Resep dalam bhs İndonesia ada dibagian bawah Selam everybody.....Merhaba from Turkey.
Today I will introduce you to one of Turkish dessert which I believe can cheer up you and family after dinner. It's also our family's fave dessert
This dessert made from rice and milk with strong cinnamon flavor. There is also non bake version of this sütlaç but I prefer bake version. With slightly burn on the surface gives such a wonderful caramelized taste...it's just tooooo good to skip it after dinner dessert.
Today I'd like to share one of my family daily menu. This meal is very easy and nutritious..... Like me, who has kids at home must be very much dizzy to arrange nutritious menu for them, right?
This is also very practical for our children's lunch box or just for family picnic. You can vary the stuffing ingredients with your family's favorite. Start of vegetables until meat or even you have canned tuna.
6 medium sized potatoes
Boneless chicken about 200 grams, boiled and cut into small pieces (or shredded)
2 medium carrots, boiled and cut into small cubes
2 green onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon butter at room temperature
1 tbsp milk powder
cheddar cheese 100 gr + 100 gr (grated), more if you like
Hai everybody..... Merhaba. It's nice weekend today. Yes, even temperature outside still around 10 or 15 Celsius but sun so bright and cloud. Just hoping spring will come soon ^,^ Last two days ago I got migraines :( . Migraine is a condition that causes attacks (episodes) of headaches. Other symptoms such as feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting) are also common. Between migraine attacks, the symptoms go completely. Very rarely I get it since last year, it was very disturbing and annoying you know since I have active kid who needs me all day long, so I couldn't really rest. I didn't want to consume any painkiller or any drug whatsoever. I just drank warm milk with honey and ginger cause I think it was just because "period thing" ... I need to keep my body warm and relax, that's all... Hope I will not get it so often.
Well, Alhamdulillah today I feel better and what's make me more vibrant is sunny day !(^,^) So before going out to park with my kid, I try to make something for tonight dessert. Then I'm thinking to make swiss roll cause some FB friends have something like cooking/ baking together event with 'pink roll cake theme'... so why don't I join that also.... so voalllaa.. I make this Swiss Roll Cake with Rose flavor. I use rose aroma drop which very common to use here in any turkish dessert. For filling I use rose jam and whipped cream. If you want to use this recipe of course you can vary the rose flavor and jam with other flavor you like.
Actually is very fresh yet cold today due to snowing today, so I decided to walk out of house a little with my kid..then suddenly end up to butcher because I remembered I didn't have meat stock and I want to make something that my husband like it's, Hünkar Beğendi Hünkar Beğendi, literally means Sultan(king)'s Favorite. So maybe this meal was one of Sultan's favorite during Ottoman emperor. I can not find any further literature about this meal, so if you my readers know more about it, please do share with me here, okay? ^,^ Hünkar Beğendi is a puree made of roasted eggplant served with gravy meat over it. Traditionally people use lamb or goat meat for the gravy but some also using beef meat. Anywaaaayyyyy...... this Sultan's favorite is also one of my husband favorite also.. so I call this also "Husband Beğendi" haha..... ^,^
I am so confuse and kinda lost lately cause my little one seems lost her appetizer. She eats less and sometimes pushes her food away... I don't have any idea why... Do you my readers, ever get same problem with me now? Is she boring with her menu? I always try to change menu everyday, even in one day, she will eat 2 or 3 different type of meal plus fresh juice, yogurt and milk. I didn't want to push her too much. I just try to give her food again after 2 or 3 hours later. Or I will feed her quickly. Then I'm thinking to make a snack which I think full of vitamin and like 'energy booster' for her..so I come up with this candy bar idea. I didn't have any peanut or other kind of nut in my cupboard..just this sesame seeds. Well... I just go ahead...Next time I will make it again with more variant ingredients.
Makes about 12 bars. Ingredients:
1 + 1/4 cup white sesame seeds (you can mix with roasted peanut, sunflower seeds, sliced almond, etc)
1 Tbsp black sesame seeds (you can replace all with white sesame seed)
I don't know why I crave Korean food recently... I think Korean Food has kickin' my taste to the heart (^,^) It's not because I've been in Korea before or I see Korean Drama or whatsoever. I just sometimes miss my time when I stayed in Jakarta, me and friends sometimes in weekend or weekday find something different for dinner.. Beside Japanese foods, we loved to try Korean foods. There were some Korean restaurants at that time and we kept changed places and kind of foods which suit for our taste and budget (^,^) I remember Kimchi is my first fave, then Korean fried chicken...like it much..and I remember also Bulgogi, it's bbq meat with Korean spice. Last time I already made my Kimchi, you can check how to make Kimchi here. But my today's post is Dak Bulgogi. Dak means Chicken in korean.. so it's chicken version of bulgogi for which use beef. For Dak Bulgogi you can use chicken thighs, boneless breast or a combination of both parts. Next time maybe I'll make that famous Korean Fried Chicken... You'll love it also (^,^)
I was going to use Maangchi's recipe, then I found this recipe that I think I love to try first... then I meet this recipe already suit my my taste... it's simple recipe to follow and ingredients are all available in my kitchen...
I use Asiatoku.com recipe here. But if you are Korean food lover also and have something to share with me, please do let me know on comment bellow, I'll be love to try it also (^,^) And here the recipe:
