With small kids around the house we must always ready with any healthy and yummy meals so anytime we can provide them within a minute. For that I always make stock some whether homemade chicken nugget, croquette or this cheesy chicken balls. Whenever I need it, I just take out from my freezer, let it defrost and warm it up.
Ingredients:
- 300 gr Chicken meat, minced
- 100 gr boiled carrot, finely cubed (optional, I always put vegetable for my kid)
- 50 gr tapioca starch
- 4 big cloves of garlic,finely minced
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 small stalk green onion, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder or to taste
- pinch of sugar
- melting soft cheese (like cheddar), cubed about 1,5 cm square
For coating:
- 1 egg, beaten with 2 Tbsp water
- 2~3 Tbsp all purpose flour
- Bread crumb/ panko
- Cooking oil for deep fry
How to:
- Put everything (except cheese and carrot) into food processor and process few minutes to well blended. Move the mixture into medium bowl, mix in carrot and lightly knead with your hand. You can taste the taste by fry small amount of batter.
- Prepare coating ingredient; flour on one platter and bread crumb on another one.
- Take the dough (about 3/4 tbsp), put cheese cube in the middle and shape into a ball (no need to make perfect round shape). Roll the ball onto flour,shake the excess then dip into egg wash and last roll over the bread crumb. Do same method to all remaining dough.
- Heat enough cooking oil for deep fry. Cook the chicken ball over medium heat just until they turn golden brown. Strain and drain them well.
Serve hot/ warm immediately.
Note: the batter a bit messy (like meatball dough), slightly wet your palms with oil when you shape into a ball.
BAHASA INDONESIA
Bahan-bahan:
- 300 gr daging ayam cincang
- 100 gr wortel rebus, cincang halus (optional, tapi saya selalu masukkan sayuran untuk anak saya)
- 50 gr tapioca
- 4 siung bawang putih, parut halus
- 1 sdm mayones
- 1 sdt mustard
- 1 batang kecil daun bawang, cincang sangat halus
- 1 1/2 sdt garam atau sesuai selera
- 1/2 sdt merica bubuk atau sesuai selera
- sejumput gula
- keju cheddar, potong kotak sekitar 1,5 cm
- 1 telur kocok lepas dengan 2 sdm air
- 2~3 sdm tepung terigu
- tepung panir
- minyak goreng untuk menggoreng
Cara membuat:
- Masukkan semua bahan, kecuali wortel dan keju kedalam food processor. Proses hingga semua bahan tercampur rata. Pindah ke dalam mangkuk besar. Campurkan wortel dan uleni ringan dengan tangan, cicipi rasanya.
- Siapkan bahan pelapis, satu piring untuk terigu dan di piring lain untuk tepung panir.
- Ambil adonan (sekitar 3/4 sendok makan), letakkan potongan keju ditengahnya dan bulatkan. Gulingkan ke tepung terigu, lalu celupkan ke kocokan telur, terakhir gulingkan ke tepung panir, lakukan hingga adonan habis.
- Panaskan minyak goreng secukupnya untuk deep fry, goreng bola ayam dengan api sedang hingga merah keemasan, tiriskan dan sajikan panas/ hangat dengan saus sambal, mayones atau saus tomat.
Note: adonan menyerupai adonan bakso, sedikit basahi telapak tangan dengan minyak ketika membentuk adonan agar tidak lengket di tangan.

ReplyDeleteThese are so adorable! My kids would gobble these up! I am so tired of the regular chicken nuggets and these are so much more grown up and fun to make. I might have to make 2 batches as I would eat the whole first one! Pinning!
