And if you ever baked them before..try this recipe. Nothing more adventurous and fun for bakers than trying new recipes and out of the "comfort zone" using a regular recipe.
If you are looking for something to entertain your family. If you are a chocolate cake lover, you should try this recipe.
But if you have never baked roll cake before, this is a great recipe to start. It's an easy and straightforward method with the best result and I believe it's a fail-proof recipe.

This recipe was slightly modified from my previous fluffy vanilla roll cake. I add black forrest paste to enrich the chocolate taste in this recipe. You can use chocolate paste instead.

Simply Delish Chocolate Roll Cake

Make one 10"x 13" x 2" (30 x 25 x 4 cm)
Ingredients:
๐ฅ 6 eggs. Separated yolks from whites
๐ฅ pinch of salt
๐ฅ 90 gr caster sugar
๐ฅ 70 gr cake flour
๐ฅ 25 gr cocoa powder
๐ฅ 100 gr vegetable oil
๐ฅ 1 tsp chocolate paste/ Black forrest paste
Filling:
Buttercream or whipped cream or you can use jam
How to make:
1. Preheat oven at 200℃. Lightly grease one 10"x 13" x 2" (30 x 25 x 4 cm) baking tray, lined with baking paper then grease again lightly. Set aside.
2. Place egg whites in a clean mixing bowl, add a pinch of salt. Using an electric mixer whisk at high speed until foamy. Add the caster sugar in batches while continuing to whisk until hard peak.
3. Whisk in yolks one at a time, beating well each addition. Continue to whisk until fluffy and pale.
4. Sift in dry ingredients (flour and cacao powder), Fold nicely just until no lump. Take batter about ⅓ part then add into a bowl with vegetable oil. Add also the chocolate paste. Fold until well combined. Pour back into the bigger part of the batter, fold nicely until fully combined.
5. Slowly from high pour batter into prepared pan, it can pop-up air bubble in the batter.
Spread with a spatula as evenly as possible, pushing batter into corners of the pan. Jiggle till batter is level. Tap pan against worktop to remove air bubble. 6. Bake on the middle shelf for about 12-13 minutes or until the middle of the cake is springy when gently pressed. Remove from the oven.
Note: The baking time and temperature only guidance. Adjust according to your own oven condition. Recognize and adjust as needed
7. Release the cake from the pan and place it over the cooling rack bottom side up, remove the baking paper and let the hot steam off.
Prepare another parchment paper, wider than the cake sheet. Take the cake and layover wide parchment paper, bottom side up. Spread whipped cream/buttercream (or jam) evenly to the cake surface.
Start to roll from the shorter side. Roll tight and set. Use a long ruler to tighten the roll (see my video)
Wrap with parchment paper and let it set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.

Bolu gulung Cokelat sederhana

loyang 10"x 13" x 2" (30 x 25 x 4 cm)
Bahan-bahan:
๐ฅ 6 telur ukuran besar, pisahkan kuning dari putihnya
๐ฅ sedikit garam
๐ฅ 90 gr gula kastor
๐ฅ 70 gr cake flour (protein rendah)
๐ฅ 25 gr bubuk kakao
๐ฅ 100 gr minyak goreng
๐ฅ 1 sdt pasta black forrest
Filling:
Buttercream atau whipped cream atau selai sesuai selera
Cara membuat:
1. Panaskan oven suhu 200℃. Olesi loyang dengan margarin tipis-tipis lalu alasi dengan kertas baking dan olesi lagi tipis-tipis, sisihkan.
Ayak jadi satu terigu dan bubuk kakao, sisihkan.
2. Dalam mangkok mixer yang bersih, kocok putih telur dan sejumput garam hingga berbusa banyak. Tambahkan gula kastor secara bertahap sambil tetap dikocok hingga gula larut dan sampai hard peak.
3. Masukkan kuning telur satu persatu ke kocokan putih telur sambil tetap dikocok kecepatan tinggi. Kocok rata tiap penambahan kuning telur. Mixer hingga mengembang dan pucat.
4. Ayak dan campurkan bahan kering,Aduk balik dengan spatula sampai tidak ada gumpalan tepung saja. Ambil adonan kurang lebih ¼ bagian lalu masukkan ke minyak, beri pasta black forrest, aduk balik hingga rata dan tidak ada bahan cair yang terlihat.
Lalu tuang kembali ke mangkok sisa adonan dan aduk balik hingga rata.
5. Tuang ke loyang yang sudah disiapkan, angkat mangkok agak tinggi ketika menuang adonan agar mengurangi gelombang udara dalam adonan. Ratakan dengan spatula dan hentakkan loyang ke meja kerja untuk mengeluarkan gelembung udara dalam adonan.
6. Taruh di rak bagian tengah dan panggang kurleb 12-13 menit atau sampai matang. Jika cake bagian tengah di tekan pelan, permukaan cake akan membal (spring back).
Note: Kenali kondisi oven masing-masing. Sesuaikan suhu dan waktu memanggang sesuai kondisi oven.
7. Keluarkan dari oven dan balikkan ke rak pendingin, kelupas baking papernya. Biarkan sebentar sampai uap panas hilang saja. Lalu gulung cakenya ketika masih hangat dan bungkus dengan baking paper. Diamkan hingga dingin.
Sediakan kertas baking yang lebar, ambil cakenya dan buka gulungannya. Lalu olesi cake dengan buttercream atau whipped cream secara rata.
Lalu gulung. Set-kan dengan bantuan penggaris panjang hingga gulungan rapat. (Lihat video diatas ya).
Bungkus dengan kertas bakingnya dan simpan dalam lemari es paling tidak 2 jam sebelum dipotong dan dihidangkan.
