Oliebollen recipe (Dutch Donuts)

 Selam evrybody...Merhaba from Turkey.

Oliebollen is a fried food-similiar to donut flavor containing raisins and apple slices, originally from Dutch. Oliebollen also known in Indonesia and are often listed in an old book recipe cause it's very popular also in Indonesia as one of Dutch food's heritage . In Netherlands, this food is traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve (But I love them in my breakfast with my hot Tukish tea).

Oliebollen made by frying dough in hot oil until lightly browned. Dough made from flour, eggs, yeast, salt, and milk. The dough is left for about 1 hour and fried, then dusted with powdered sugar.

Other than this Oliebollen, you also can check my other Dutch heritage's recipe which are quite popular in Indonesia: Bitterballen, Kaastegels, Kroketten, and others

Oliebollen recipe (Dutch Donuts) | Çitra's Home Diary

Makes ± 35 ~ 40 small balls

Ingredients:
 500 g all-purpose flour
 2 medium egg, lightly beaten
 200 ml (1 cup) warm milk
 200 ml (1 cup) warm water
 11 g (1 packet) instant yeast
 50 g (± 2 tbsp)
+ 1 tsp granulated sugar
 1 tsp salt
 1 tsp vanilla powder
 2 pieces (± 250 g) medium apples, peeled, cut into 1x1 cm cubes, drizzle with lemon juice
 75 g (± ¾ cup raisins), soak in warm water a few hours earlier, drained
 50 ounces dried apricots (optional), chopped coarse
 Icing sugar for dusting
 Cooking oil for deep fry

method:
1) Preheat oven ± 50 ⁰ C, heat apple slices and raisins in the oven about 7minutes.
2) Mix warm milk and warm water, divided into 2 portions. One part mixed with instant yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar, stirring until dissolved. Other part, mixed with 50 grams of sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves.
3) Mix the flour, salt, eggs, vanilla powder and instant yeast solution in mixerbowl, mix on low speed until well blended. Then mix in milk + sugar solution, add mixer speed 1 level, mix until smooth and not lump. The dough will look wet and pretty mesy.
Note: Can also manually knead the dough by hand (sometimes I just manually knead it so I could feel the batter is completely smooth).
4) Combine apples, apricots, and raisins, mix well . Close the bowl with a damp towel and give rest to ± 60 minutes.
5) Heat oil over medium heat. Take 2 tablespoons and dip them in that heating oil, take the dough about ¾ tbsp batter with that spoon and shape into balls with help of two spoons, dip the dough in oil and fry until browned. Flip them once in awhile to make evenly brown (or sometimes they flip by them self :) ).
6) Drain the oil and allow it to room temperature before serving. Dusting with icing sugar.

Enjoy.

  3. I just found this site, and I find it excellent and original. I lived in Holland for some time and I've been looking for the Oliebollen recipe in English for a long time. These fritters are delicious, but unfortunately, for reasons unknown to me, it's not possible to print the recipe from your site, and I can't have a computer in the kitchen. Is it possible for you to fix this problem? It would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.
