Zebra Swiss Roll Cake (cooked dough method) / Bolu gulung zebra

Resep dalam bhs Indonesia ada di bagian bawah.

Selam everybody...Merhaba from Turkey.

Today's post is another swiss roll cake. It's like almost too long I didn't bake any roll cake. No reason, I just busy enjoying some small crafting projects with my kid. And winter will come in shortly so I'm now doing some new crochet projects for upcoming winter~as usual ^,^ . You can check my other Swiss roll Cake I made before here.

If you read the title with "cooked dough" method, some of you might say..."what..??" Or some of you might already familiar with it.
Cooked dough method is cooking flour in hot oil/ butter, giving such a moist, less crust and more flexible for the cake. Because cooked flour has ability to absorb more water / moistness

Those characteristic so much suit for making roll cake. I got this recipe from one Singaporean food blogger which is already mastered in baking; Kenneth Goh with his page Ghuai Shu Shu.
Please go check his superb page and tell him I send you to him.

And today I am going to share one of his recipe making so flexible (he call it yoga cake) Swiss roll cake. The cake so flexible to roll in, roll out and roll in again without any crack. Isn't it sound fabulous recipe for rolling cake? It is! So happy I found his recipe.

Actually this is my second time using same recipe. The 1st one I made plain (no pattern) with black berry jam filling, but I didn't take any picture since the cake already gone before I could capture it with my camera (^,^) Yep..it is delicious!

And this 2nd attempt, I try to make zebra pattern which I'm not really sure is it really look like zebra or not....hehehehe... 😄 I'll do better next time. Of course the pattern is optional for you. You can skip the pattern and just make it plain or any other pattern you love.

The filling also absolutely depend on your prefer. Today I filled it with chocolate butter cream. You make choose any filling you like such as jam, or whipped cream.

So let's jump to kitchen to try this yummy and easy to roll swiss roll cake! (^,^)

Black Sesame Macarons with Dark Cocoa filling

Selam Everybody.... Mehaba from Turkey...

Macarons, is a french sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. The name is derived from the Italian word macarone, maccarone or maccherone, the meringue.

Even basically these people fave just made with 4 ingredients plus food coloring (if using), now we can find many ideas of variety for this macarons. Like adding cocoa powder in it to make chocolate macarons. Or adding some Asian taste by adding matcha or pandan flavor in it.
And if you are my regular reader, you should know that previously I made new favorite; coconut macarons. In case you missed my other macarons recipe, you can check at "Macarons" category list.

And part of my obsession to make macarons' variety as many as I can, today I made black sesame seed macarons. Some of you maybe already familiar with black sesame seed macarons, meanwhile some of you never heard about it and wondering how it make and taste.

Yup..me neither ^,^ I never tried black sesame macarons before. That is why I am so curious about it. When I search for black sesame macarons recipe on the net, I found some of them used 100% black sesame seed for their nut-free macarons while other using ratio for almond and black sesame powder.

So for my black sesame macarons today I'll stick to my base recipe with a little modification adding black sesame powder. Oh, btw... I make my own black sesame powder by grinding some black sesame seeds in a spice grinder. Sift a few times to get a smooth powder.

Bring back the coarse one to the grinder to process until you get smooth powder. But be careful not to work it too long otherwise you'll end up with oily and gritty powder. Next time I will post how to make black sesame seed powder in separated post, this time I didn't take picture of it.

But it would be easier if you can access black sesame powder ready in your hand ^,^

Dark Cocoa Panna Cotta Recipe

Resep dalam Bhs İndonesia ada dibagian bawah

Selam  Everybody... Merhaba from Turkiye...

For our weekend dessert I made this fabulous and delicious Dark Cocoa Panna Cotta. The recipe I took from Donna Hay's recipe with minor adjustment. Well, mostly I am a person who strict to the original recipe... but I think you'll agree with me that coffee is chocolate's best friend, right?

So, for my personal adjustment I skipped the vanilla and use coffee granule instead. The final result was superb! I can taste the coffee flavor infuse to the panna cotta nicely. Not strong though but soft enough to indulge your taste...believe me, you gonna love it!

Actually it's my second time making this dark cocoa panna cotta. At 1st making I used exactly like what recipe write without any adjustment/ change at all. I used vanilla essence instead of coffee in first trial. The taste was so great, I liked it though, may family liked it as well. But the texture slightly too soft for me, so for this second trial I add gelatin powder.

Original recipe calls for 3 tsp gelatin powder, I add 1 tsp today and it turns out very nice smooth texture. Exactly like what I prefer.

You should try this dark cocoa panna cotta in your kitchen. It's simple and quick to make-except cooling time to set. Simple and fresh, like Donna Hay's style of food she created ^,^
Yet the taste isn't simple as make it. Silky soft and very chocolaty- you never imagine this made from cocoa powder instead of cooking chocolate.

Chocolate Chiffon Cake (resep oke Chiffon kek coklat !!) | Çitra's Home Diary. #chocolatechiffon #chiffoncakerecipe #chocolatecake #bestchiffoncakerecipe #resepchiffoncake #valentinebakingidea

Selam everybody..... Merhaba from Turkey.....

This is my 1st chiffon cake I made in Turkey! Yes, 1st I made chiffon cake in Turkey because I didn't have bundt pan special for chiffon here. I did make chiffon cake before when I was in Indonesia because we had chiffon pan. And if you don't have chiffon pan in Indonesia (or mostly Asian countries) you'll easily get it in baking ware shop anywhere you meet.

Once I tried to bring it from my homeland 2 years ago and kept it in my luggage....And when I open my baggage...gosh....it was flat!! I was so disappointed and feel eerie to thought how bad "baggage people" handled our luggage!

Maybe because in Turkey people don't really familiar with chiffon cake (or maybe angle food cake) so I couldn't find it offline on bake ware shop or any shop like that here. There are some online shop but it's so expensive for me and it'll take months to delivered here cause they import from China or other Asian countries.
So I decide to wait until I home to Indonesia or maybe somebody would go home to Indonesia and I'll ask help to bring one for me (^,^) with special note of course remembering my first bad experiment brought a pan in luggage (^,^)

And one day.... in very cold, snowy and boring day... I decide to take a walk to central market (we call it çarsı). My home is near that central market so anytime I'm boring I just drag my self there. That central çarsı is also tourists spot in Bursa, so it's big and never boring me although I went there many times.

So anywaaayyyy... I went into one glassware shop, nothing specific to look for...just wandering around and window shop sometime enough for me.... but that day I saw a cake mold similar to chiffon cake mold. It's written at label as angel food cake mold, but it's non stick pan and the bottom is fix (un-removable) like normally chiffon cake mould.

Pistachio Butter Cake Truffles

Assalamu'alaikum......

Tapi suami dan anak saya... wohooohooo... they are sweet tooth banget!

Jadi ceritanya manfaatin cake left over hasil baking 2 hari lalu. Sebenarnya cakenya sendiri masih bisa dimakan atau disimpan di freezer sampai dengan sebulan sih..tapi males ah nyimpen-nyimpen segitu lamanya. Kalau pengen lagi ntar baking lagi aja ^,^

Pistachio Butter Cake Truffles
Jadi kalau kalian punya cake sisa atau bosan dimakan gitu aja, coba deh resep ini. Untuk bahan-bahannya bisa dikonversikan sesuai banyaknya cake yang ada. Kalaupun gak punya cake sisa tapi pengen bikin, cake dasar apapun bisa kok dipakai, tetep aja konversikan bahan lainnya sesuai banyaknya cake. Paling gampang baking cake dari cake box siap pakai saja kalau ingin membuat cake truffles ini.

BEST MOIST DARK CHOCOLATE FORREST STEAMED CAKE / KEK BLACK FORREST KUKUS

Resep dalam Bhs İndonesia ada di bagian bawah

"We Never know the Love of parent until we become parents ourself"

Selam..... Merhaba from Turkiye.....

Today I'd like to share other steamed cake recipe. As you know steamer method has been used for centuries in mostly Asian cuisine. Unlike mostly western cooking method which require oven bake on mostly their cooking process, we are Asian people accustomed with steam cooking process than oven bake. We steam almost everything start from main dish, side dish, bread, until dessert.

With steam process we can avoid of burning or overbaking/ overcooking on food. And with steaming I believe we can get healthier and more nutritious especially when we steam vegetables.

I like steam my cake also. Cake with steamed process has more moist than baking one. And it's moist can last until few days (keep in an airtight container). And for me steam cake is always fail-proof in any recipe I make.

And today I'll share one of my favorite cake recipes, it's definitely delicious and champion in my family. I use this recipe long time ago and still not boring of it. It's rich and intense of chocolate flavor, moist yet fluffy. With silky chocolate sauce even it's a plus plus.. (^,^) 😄

Silky chocolate sauce: (make it ahead)
  • 140 gr chocolate chip
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp full-fat milk

Steamed Pandan Chocolate Marble Cake (from Egg white) / Bolu kukus Pandan dari Putih telur.

Resep dalam Bhs İndonesia ada dibagian bawah

"Children need our presence more than our presents"

Selam everybody .... Merhaba from Turkey..

My today's post is steamed cake from egg white again. If you are my  regular blog's reader you probably notice that I posted many steamed cake in this humble page, and some of them used egg white-mostly left over egg white..

Yes I do like steamed cake. Cake with steamed process I think it's more moist than bake one. And for me any recipe I use with steamed process it become fail proof recipe (^,^) ... trust me. I tried many time, with same recipe, when I steamed it, it always came out fluffy and moist cake, while - some time I got 'broken heart' cake out from my oven... in fact that recipe with oven bake method... I have no idea why..

Please do check other steamed cake post on "steamed" over cooking method section.
You can also check specific steamed cake from egg white like Spiced steamed cake here, Chocolate steamed cake from egg white, Steamed zebra cake here.

And today I just steamed another cake from left over egg white and this time I twist chocolate flavor with my favorite Pandan flavor on marble cake.
Steamed process took about 45 minutes, also you must check by inserted skewer in the middle, continue steam if your skewer comes out still wet (it should comes out really clean).

Strawberry and Chocolate hand pie

Assalamu'alaikum....... Merhaba from Turkey..

It's late post.... actually I made this few days ago but since early Ramadhan day 1 I've been busy with things around the house. And like many other time in Ramadhan I have a little less sleep. And thanks God this Ramadhan in summer time the weather is so friendly... so many rain... air is so fresh with bit of windy sometimes... It's really helpful to keep my energy still fresh during day light.

Today's post is simply easy strawberry with chocolate hand pie. It's so simple, quick, easy yet double yummy. Serve it with vanilla ice cream or simple whipped cream will be more delish. But I serve it with Kaymak, it's a creamy dairy product similar to clotted cream, made from the milk of water buffalos, cows, sheep, or goats
Mostly recipe I googling around is directly put fresh strawberry over the pastry dough but as my own experiences with fresh fruity pie, it will end up with wet and messy looking pie. Yes.. some people okay with that.. But this time I want my pie looks pretty as I bought from patisserie (*_*)... So I bake my strawberry before filling it to the dough. The result is so nice and yummy in taste yet pretty good looking hand pie...

I always love to add some cute and girly properties for them... I think they match each other (^,^)

Well, I'm not photographer.... but I always love to present what I made in my little kitchen look genuinely scrumptious for my readers because that's what food photography about-at least that's what I believe. And you must try the recipe to experience the taste.

And back to macarons topic... many of my friends said they they are afraid to bake them because they said it's tricky and mostly end up with failure.
Believe me, I'd been there before! Before I got "success story" on baking macarons... I was like my friends before... If I'm not mistake calculate maybe I failed baking this macarons about 4 or 5 or 6 times since 2 years ago.

Double Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins, copy cat recipe

Hello again... Merhaba from Tukiye. Happy great weekend for you. Hope you always enjoying wonderful time with your family and love ones. Bright sunny yet cold outside this Friday in my place, time to bring my kid outside to enjoy little bit short time sunshine and get rid off her boring time stay in house this winter. We went to park in our neighborhood today.

And after enjoying her time played around with swing, slide and played a ball with some other boys--yes, my daughter prefer plays a ball with boys than play a doll or cooking toys with other girls (^,^)-- we went home passed by one local bakery. She saw some chocolate muffins and cried for it... Oh , no... I hate when my kid cries in the middle of the street and I must "drag" her to walk quickly away from something she cry for... It was not because I didn't want to buy her that chocolate muffin...But I remember I already made muffin at home earlier last night.

But... instead of stop crying and walk with me away from that bakery, she strikes and cries more loud while her finger point at those muffins behind the bakery's window.. of course some people turned and look at us.....hhhhhsssss.... what to do.... so I buy her one chocolate muffin she wants. As I thought before, she didn't finish eat that muffin from bakery near our house... :(

Our evening teatime as usual in my family, I serve my banana chocolate muffin I made. And you know what.. my daughter finish banana chocolate muffin I made one whole muffin (that muffin I made big size).. And seem she loves it much and so does my husband.

Churros with Chocolate sauce

Frankly speaking İ never eat churros before, even there are some counters in Jakarta, cıty İ was living in before, İ didn't had intention to taste it. But after some my FB friends make by them self recently it finally tickling me... So İ'm very much curious about it. İ search what churros is.. how's the recipe and try to find out some people opinion on their blog describe how it taste.... And again-as always- wikipedia become my source to find it more ^,^

During my recipe searching İ found some recipe claimed Mexican churros while some other write about Spanish Churros.. According to wikipedia the origin of this churros is unclear. One theory is they were brought to Europe by the Portuguese. The Portuguese sailed for the Orient and, as they returned from Ming Dynasty China to Portugal, they brought along with them new culinary techniques, including modifying the dough for You tiao also known as Youzagwei in Southern China, for Portugal. However, they modified it by introducing a star design because they did not learn the Chinese skill of "pulling" the dough (the Chinese Emperor made it a capital crime to share knowledge with foreigners). As a result, churros are not "pulled" but rather extruded out through a star-shaped die.

Another theory is that the churros was made by Spanish shepherds, to substitute for fresh bakery goods. Churro paste was easy to make and fry in an open fire in the mountains, where shepherds spend most of their time.

And about the taste and texture, some people it's refer to donut taste with cinnamon. But after check mostly recipe -- and finally İ made by my self-- İt's more on fried pastry with sugar cinnamon... What do you think?
Anyway, in fact now İ like churros and definitely it's perfect friend during my chill day and best friend accompany me during my 'book time' alone after my kid sleeping, with hot coffee latte, in silent night :)

For my first adventure of churros I decide use recipe from mowielicious.com here. No spesific reason. İ saw many recipe almost same in ingredients and method. Maybe next time İ will try Martha Steward's which use milk instead of water.
And here the recipe....
