Kembang Goyang / Rosettes / Honeycomb / Kuih Loyang Fried Cookies

Recipe in English please visit this link

Naahh... setelah nyingkirin rasa males.. akhirnya kesampaian bikin kembang goyang lagi.

Merhaba from Türkiye everybody 👋........... Selam.

You may agree that chicken is the cheapest protein source that we cook and eat daily.
Same here at my house, my kid, and I love chicken so much.
Please check my chicken/poultry category if you want to know my various recipes cooking with chicken/ poultry in many styles; Turkish, Asian, Indonesian, or worldwide.

I like my chicken in many ways. Fry, grill, in soup or stew. For you who always looking for idea for kid's lunch box, you should try my homemade chicken nugget, or my cheese chicken balls, or Indonesian "kaki naga" .

And for my today post, İ am going to share my new fave Spicy Plum sauce Chicken. The sweet and sour in this recipe remind me of sweet and sour chicken, but it's deliciously different.

Maybe you remember previously I'd shared my homemade plum sauce. Beside soy sauce and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), plum sauce is one of my staple sauce in my pantry.
So if you are Asian food lover... you should have that sauce also in your pantry. You will ready anytime whenever you have Asian food party 😍

My Homemade Plum sauce / Saus Buah Prem

Selam Everybody....... Merhaba from Türkiye.

Plum sauce, is one of staple condiment in Asian cuisine. İt's sweet and sour basic sauce can be used for cooking or dipping sauce such as spring roll, dumpling, fried chicken, roasted duck and more.

Store bought plum sauce mostly has viscous brown to dark brown in color. Unlike when we make it at home, the color tends to light red to dark one.. just like plum's color.
İ have no idea what kind of plum used for making plum sauce at manufacture so they can produce light brown to dark brown color.

But for sure my homemade plum sauce is definitely make from fresh plum, rich with spices and guaranteed keeper recipe for staple condiment for your pantry.

So if you are Asian food lover or want to have something go along with your dimsum or roasted duck/ chicken.. make sure you keep this recipe ✍

But İ doubt you don't like a savory garlicky spicy and sweet with a light tangy sauce.

This firecracker sauce definitely worth trying, believe me it'll be repeatable.

This sweet-spicy hot sauce could be used in almost all protein sources.

Mantis Shrimp Curry Noodle made from scratch / Mie Kari (kare) udang ronggeng

Selam everybody.....Merhaba from Turkey.

This is my kind of comfort food. Nothing more indulges and fulfills my longing for my mom's cook than this hearty, warming and rich flavor of this curry noodle. This bowl always my number one choice whenever İ want to be "selfish" in my dinner table 😏
Selfish.... yes cause my husband doesn't like this kind of curry. He prefer simple food with "simple" flavor 😔

Whenever İ want to cook curry..İ always remember my mom. She is the best cooks around the house. İ learnt many foods from her. We (me and my siblings) all grew up with my mom's heavenly yummy food. İ Love and always remember her curries especially crab and seafood curry.
And my curry noodle also inspired by my mom's curry style. Traditionally we eat curry with white steamed rice. But today İ like to combine my mom's style curry with another İndonesian staple; Mie or Noodle

Sesame Chicken Rice Bowl Recipe

Selam everybody..Merhaba from Turkey.

Asian style dish is always my prefer. Just like this restaurant style dish-Sesame chicken.
Today I am going to share sesame chicken rice bowl. The dish seems look alike general tso's chicken, but it is different actually in taste where this sesame chicken has more on sweet and light sour rather than spicy.

For the vegetable side dish I made simple shredded carrot and napa cabbage dressing with my simple version of thousand island dressing. It's just perfect for the sesame chicken.

This take away style dish amazingly easy and relatively quick to make So if you are asian food's fan as well I am sure you are going to love this. (^,^)

Merhaba From Türkiye 👋

First of all, I'd like to thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you can come back, again and again, to check up on any beyond Indonesian or Turkish food or something sweets that you might love. Your comments and emails brighten my days and make this simple blog thing worthwhile 😍💛

And make sure you subscribe to my Youtube channel and turn on the bell sign to get more video recipes.

Beside kecap manis/ sweet soy sauce and spicy chili sauce, teriyaki sauce is the staple sauce in my pantry. Those sauces I can use for almost any cook at any emergency time.

Anytime I back home visiting my family in Indonesia I usually bring some local product of teriyaki sauce and some other sauce. As Indonesian and Asian I have already gotten used to that local product name "saori". I think it's a local product with a Japanese license.

Of course, here there is some imported product as well and I already tested and compare some other teriyaki sauce with "saori" but still, I prefer my own teriyaki sauce taste.

And after some experiments tried to copy the taste of my fave teriyaki sauce so here is my recipe base on my preferred taste and as close as possible to that brand.

Ikan saus lada hitam / Indonesian crunchy fish in black pepper sauce

Resep dalam Bhs İndonesia ada dibagian bawah

Selam everybody..... Merhaba from Turkey..

Ikan means Fish in Indonesian. Saus Lada hitam means black pepper sauce. The humble of lightly crushed black peppercorn mix with oyster sauce and ginger-garlic spices is a fusion of Indonesian flavor with Chinese influence. The sauce mixture in this dish make it so special and really gets along with fish or any seafood you cook with this sauce. Eg, crab, calamari, lobster, or prawn.

This dish is one popular as street food along with other kinds. If you were live in big city like surabaya, jakarta and some other cities, you might find some Chinese food street vendors along the main street open their "kitchen" after the afternoon. And also you can find at some Indo-Chinese restaurants which open mostly almost 24 hours.

But even it's popular as street food, still some moms-like my mom- sometimes cooked it for us at home. Usually, she uses crab for this black pepper sauce. Yes, this black pepper sauce is just perfect for crab.

And since I couldn't find any crab until now in Bursa I want to fulfill my craving on some my homeland food like this crunchy fish cooked in black pepper sauce. Making it is actually very simple and quick for prepare-as many types of Indo-Chinese food.

Kari Ayam dengan roti jala / #Indonesian style Chicken #Curry serve with net pancake

Resep dalam Bhs İndonesia ada di bagian bawah

Selam Everybody...... Merhaba from Turkey...

My today post is my favorite dish; Kari ayam or Indonesian chicken curry. This kari ayam I served on my family dinner table together with famed roti jala. In case you missed my roti jala recipe, you can check it here.

Kari or curry is one of the diversity of Indonesian food. This dish believed derived by Indian influence to Indonesia. Read more about Indonesian cuisine at bottom part of this post.

We have many kind of curry "bumbu" version too. "Bumbu" is the Indonesian word for spice or seasoning, and it commonly appears in the names of spice mixtures, sauces and seasoning pastes.
Beside variation from ingredient used like chicken, lamb, beef or vegetables, curry "bumbu" also has some variation, eg. green curry, red, or yellow curry.

And today I am going to share my chicken red curry. This dish was one of food which my mom often to cook for us. Or if we celebrate something, this food is "a must" food together with other celebration's dish (we call it kenduren or selamatan)

Different from other region (like North Sumatra and Riau Islands) where they serve it with roti jala, in Java mostly we eat this curry with steamed rice together with chilly sambal and cucumber or pickle.

This recipe I get from my mom. If you search for curry recipe on the net I'm sure you will find hundreds of it. But for this curry my mom recipe is worth to try! Nothing more authentic and delicious than my mom's. Yup..mom's recipe is always my best! ^,^

Roti Jala / Malay net pancake recipe

Selam Everybody...... Merhaba from Turkey...

Roti Jala (also known as Roti Kirai or Roti Renjis), literally meaning Net Bread is a pretty dish that looks like a lace doily due to the way it is made.
In Indonesia this dish derived from the North Sumatra. Since geographically it closes to Malaysia so many Malay influence on that province including culture and culinary.

Roti jala usually is served alongside with curry dish/ curry sauce. In Deli  (Deli Serdang Regency) they serve it with famed lamb curry together with pickled pineapple.

According to the humanist M Muhar Omtatok, roti jala or net pancake is Malay food which could have been adapted from Indian element.
Roti jala also found in Riau Islands known as roti kirai.

And that's my friend what I am going to share today on my blog. Yes, Indonesian culinary is very rich and colorful due to we have many ethnic groups (more than 300) living from east to west Indonesian archipelago.
Indonesian cuisine varies greatly by region and has many different influences.

I made this roti jala to serve with my chicken curry, you can check my recipe here. But sometime I eat roti jala with different dipping sauce. Make slightly sweet version to go with your fruits jam or chocolate sauce, that's another ideas to enjoy roti jala.

Mie siram capcay / Indonsian style noodle topped with vegetables

Selam everybody...Merhaba from Turkey..

If you far away from homeland..and you are in a place which has totally different culture (read; in cuisine) from yours.. believe me, your longing is worst than broken heart 😄
 hahahha.. I just exaggerate it.
But honestly I'am talking real story here. Especially anything you need to make your own homeland food isn't available locally or it's very difficult to find. I remember earlier years I'd staying here, it was around 2008 or 2009, even egg noodle was very difficult to find. I must went to big chain supermarket (where far away from my house), then sometimes I got painfully heat broken cause couldn't find it there.

When I got lucky, my husband surprisingly brought it for me from another big supermarket near his office. To buy soy sauce, we must buy it online which sometimes also no stock.... Yes...that was my earlier year living in Turkey. Maybe local people are't familiar to Asian culinary.

Mie siram capcay / Indonsian style noodle topped with vegetables. #indonesiacuisine #capcay #ifumie #asianfood #indonesian #seafood #chicken #stirfry

That's why I start to make some homemade thing start from egg noodle, tofu, tempeh, even I sprout my own bean sprout..  So true that said: lack condition/ limitation drives you to be creative person 😄

And years gone by.. and I was so happy cause some ingredients I need to make my own style food become easier to find here.. don't know why..maybe Asian foreigners getting more settled here..😄  dunno!

Spicy cucumber side dish Oi-muchim 오이무침

Selam everybody....Merhaba from Turkey...

If somebody ask me, which one do I prefer, Korean Drama or Korean food? spontaneously my answer would be korean food...
yeeaahh...I know...sorry for Korean drama's lover over there... And don't ask me further question: WHY?  my answer will break your heart ^,^

Tom Yum Gai (Thai Spicy Chicken Soup) from scratch

Resep dalam bahasa Indonesia ada di bagian bawah

Selam everybody..... Merhaba from Turkey....

Tom yam or tom yum is spicy thai soup usually cooked with shrimp. Beside in Thailand it also served around it neighbours countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brunei. It is so popular and become world wide popular food not only at those Asian neighbours.

Tom yum is characterised by its distinct hot and sour flavours, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed chili peppers.

Tom yum soup has many variant depends on ingredients use such as :
Tom yum goong or tom yam kung, is made with prawns as the main ingredient.
Tom yam pla is a clear fish soup that was traditionally eaten with rice. It used to be the most widespread form of tom yam before mass-tourism came to Thailand, for fresh fish is readily available almost everywhere in the region's rivers, canals and lakes as well as in the sea. Usually fish with firm flesh that doesn't crumble after boiling is preferred for this type of soup.
Tom yum gai or tom yam kai is the chicken version
Tom yum po taek or tom yam thale is a variant of the soup with mixed seafood, like prawns, squid, clams and pieces of fish.
Tom yam nam khon is a more recent variation. Almost always made with prawns as a main ingredient, a little milk or coconut milk is added to the broth as a finishing touch, and then balanced with some toasted dried chillies. This adaptation is not to be confused with tom kha gai ("chicken galanga soup"), where galangal is the dominant flavour of the coconut milk-based soup.
Tom yam kung maphrao on nam khon , a version of prawn tom yum with the meat of a young coconut and a dash of (coconut) milk.
Tom yam kha mu, made with pork leg. These require a long cooking time under low fire.

What I'm about to share today is tom yum gai (tom yan kai), tom soup made from chicken. Beside using chicken meat and mushrooms, I also add some small shrimp to get great tom yum flavour that I like. For this tom yum kai you may skip the shrimp if you want.

If you browse around the net for this recipe, you'll get hundreds of it. Some use ready tom yum paste (nam prik pao) and some making from scratch.
Mostly I make all my foods from scratch but for this spicy tom yum I prefer use ready nam prik pao/ thai spicy sauce, it will give you real kick of thai dish! .... But poor me this winter my nam prik pao finish.... so you can guess... I cooked tom yum many times ^,^

Well...it's my fave dish..especially during winter and cold days or when I got flu... So what to do.. this time I make my tom yum soup really from scratch... The taste is so tasteful exactly when I use ready nam prik pao.

So bad I forgot to picture my home made tom yum paste/ nam prik pao...next time I'll post my home made nam prik pao in different post.

General Tso's Chicken Recipe

" I didn't have any clue how to be a parent until I'm dealing with my kid daily now"--me

Selam everybody..... Merhaba from Turkey....

Fall officially comes..... Everyday is raining and dark mostly this whole week. I have no complaint at all..weather come and go..changing as nature calls... But I get a little clueless dealing with my kid... she seems boring stay inside house whole day these few days....
I already tried to make her busy start making her play dough, buy her new puzzles (she bored already with her old solved puzzles), drawing, coloring.....anything that across my mind that kinder garden teachers mostly do.
Tell me if you have any idea how to "home schooling" 3 y.o kid... ^,^
If we were in my homeland, she could play outside during the day...plays with chickens, sheep, cats or even climbs small trees around my mom's house and with many other kids in my "kampoong" ^,^

So lately I don't want to spend too much time at kitchen...although yes she loves follow me doing things in kitchen..I like it ..but our kitchen is too small-just like design for 1 person only in it!!
Of course I want her to have fun also with me in kitchen... she is just small girl, she always brings her step stool to kitchen to reach kitchen table..if so.. no more space for me to move freely...really..our kitchen that small... I think around 2 x 1,5 m square.... Hope we can move to our own soon, Ameen. ^,^
Well...enough my "daily report" for now.... just I hope few years later she will remember the time we spend together daily (^,^)

Indonesian food recipe, Bandung style steamed fish dumpling /Siomay Khas Bandung

“Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

Selam everybody.... Merhaba from Turkiye..

Siomay (some people also call somay) is steamed fish dumpling serve with mix vegetables and tofu, flush with peanut sauce, kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), chili sauce and lemon juice or kaffir lime. So it's deliciously sweet-sour spicy dish.

Siomay is ubiquitous in Indonesian cities, It can be found in street-side food stalls, mobile carts, bicycle vendors, or even in restaurants. But the most popular place is in Bandung (West Java) so people call it siomay Bandung.

This food derived from Chinese cuisine shui mai (or shumai or shaomai). Beside influenced by Dutch cuisine (in Dutch colonial long time ago), Indonesian cuisine also had influence by other countries like India, Arabic, and Chinese.

And my today's post is Bandung style siomay. I use haddock fish fillet mix with shrimps, but optionally feel free to use chicken minced mix with shrimp/ fish. But my suggestion if you mix with chicken, use bigger portion of fish/ shrimp than chicken meat.

For other vegetables complements, usually people use bitter gourd/ bitter melon, white cabbage- boiled and rolled, boiled potato. There's also tofu and hard-boiled eggs.
Enjoy your siomay with lime juice (mostly from kaffir lime), sweet soy sauce and chilly sauce.
