Drink Milk !! Good for you.

Women who do not drink milk regularly during pregnancy is likely to have babies with low birth weight or allergies and impaired growth in womb, according to expert opinion. A team of researchers compared babies birth weight of mothers who regularly drank milk at least one cup a day during pregnant with mothers who are less or not drink milk regularly. It turned out that infants of mothers milk drinkers have a better weight.

From total 300 women in research, published in Canadian Medical Association Journal, they are non-smokers and have healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. A quarter of those mothers are reported routinely  not to drink milk every day.

A team of experts headed by Kristine Koski, director of the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, McGill University in Montreal, Canada, said that the study is important because increasing numbers of women who do not consume milk during pregnancy will have a lower fat intake, weight gain limited and allergic disorders, because the habit of drinking milk during pregnancy is to prevent lactose intolerance.

The mothers and health professionals need to know that milk dietary may restrict essential nutrients and negatively affect fetal development.

Mothers who were studied are those with aged 19 to 45 years and who perform prenatal in three hospitals in Calgary between May 1997 and June 1999. Among them 72 women who did not regularly consume at least one glass of milk per day.

One cup of milk a day containing 2.5 micrograms of vitamin D, this number is highly significant value of 5 micrograms of vitamin D are recommended each day.Vitamin D is essential for growth and bone strength. Calcium from the mother is needed by the fetus which is channeled through the umbilicus.

Previous research conducted by experts from the University of Southampton explains that children who come from mothers who are deficient in vitamin D during pregnancy have lower bone growth compared with normal bone mass, it can cause the risk of fractures due to osteoporosis later in life.

Nevertheless the nutrients contained in milk can be replaced with other foods or supplements.

Dietary advice for pregnant women should be done every day at least consume one serving of milk, cheese and yogurt.

I've been gone for a while (with a happy reason) and here I am again

Hi everybody..... I know.. I know.. I've been 'disappear' for few weeks
Since early December 2011 I feel there was change in me. I became very very lazy (yes I am talking very bad  laziness .. hahaha). I did not want to do anything... start from cleaning my house, cooking, I didn't touch my craft at all, I'm even lazy to eat  and do simple things or just touch my computer / internet. I began to leery that I'm pregnant when I didn't get my period in time and start had bad nausea ...just exhausting and frustrating days for me.
Well! I'm pregnant!

During the first week of my pregnancy --This my funny story and I couldn't understand why--I could not cook anything right! Once or twice I baked cakes and everything ends up in the trash because sodden or shrink or burn! Even easy-cook dishes which usually I make everyday--sometimes too salty, or burning or taste weird ... hahahhaa ... Anyone know why is that?

little miracle inside me, 14 weeks
Frankly speaking, this is very first experience for me. Thrilling, full of surprising, delightful and little worried at same time .. so I'm trying to open minded for any information and advice from everybody, family, close friends, even from strangers I met on the bus!

well, I am so excited till I don't know what to write anymore because too many things I want to share to the world .. I am too happy @(^,^)@

These couples days I feel a little better than  previous weeks. I can do my normal activities since bad nausea slightly reduce. Only sometimes suddenly  I felt sick and nausea every time I see my husband.. hahaha...

I hope I can cook "normal" again and share it to you again.. miss that too though... :)

Xoxo

Friendly Tag... I'm in

I've been tag by My dear foodie friend Ping. Hai Ping..! thanks for tagged me and be part of this friendly event. Here I just copy paste the rule to enliven this event from her page.

This tag is all about your own stuff. I think it's a great idea to highlight some long forgotten posts or some lonely, neglected, uncommented recipe ... especially during one's early days of blogging. I'm happy to be tagged by Ping, from Ping's picking to take part in this 7 - Link Challenge. That's 7 of your own posts in relation to the categories and then to nominate 5 victims bloggers to join in. No extra cooking or baking required.

2 simple rules:

A) publish links for the categories below (1 link per category)

I'm not sure exactly when the post should be published, so I just choose my posts only publishes in 2011

3. The most controversial post:
Frankly speakıng I don't really understand what ıs most controversial post is. 1st in my thought, controversial means, I post something, then suddenly somebody else claim it as his/ her post ..hehehehehe...anyway, then I decide my LAHMACUN to be controversial post. Why? I read on my tweeter some people claim this food came from their country, not Turkey. I know, some countries in same area (middle easter and mediteranean) have similarity in food and culture. Just like in south east asia, we have some similarity in food and culture, between, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore. Every country has differential and it's own characteristics :)

Homemade Cherry Compote and some Facts about Cherry

As I said previously, for celebrating cherry season (read: Low price cherry) here in Turkey I will post some recipe using this fascinating cherry. And read some facts about this little cute fruit below that I copy from some sources.

Some great facts and advantages about this Cherry:
* Cherry contain anthocyanins which combat diabetes (lowers blood sugar levels)
* Consuming fresh Cherry also can reduce levels of cholesterol in the blood.

As reported by genius beauty, cherry juice can improve your sleep quality. Research has shown that people who had been drinking cherry juice without the sugar in the morning and evening, have better sleep than those who drink other juice in the same amount. The average duration of their sleep improved by 17 minutes after eating cherry juice.
The content of the cherry juice affects melatonin in the body. Melatonin is a hormone that regulates sleep and wake cycles, as manifested by Wilfred Pigeon, a psychiatrist the University of Rochester in New York
.

Well, after knowing the fact of these cherry.. let's make this one also, shall we? ^,^

Ingredients:
 500 grams of fresh cherry fruit, pitted and clean the stem.
 7 tablespoons granulated sugar (or you can use diabetes sugar for a healthy reason)
 ¾ tsp citric acid (or can be replaced with 2 tablespoons lemon juice)
 ¾ cup water
 ½ tsp Vanilla extract

In a heavy-bottom sauce pan, put sugar, water and citric acid, bring to almost boiling and  sugar dissolves. Put in fresh cherry, stir very gently until all cherries covered with the syrup, let it cook about 2 ~ 3 minutes.
If you cook it too long, cherry will soft and tend to crushed, but if you like it that way (slightly like jam), you can also cook them a bit longer.
Let stand until room temperature before storage in sterile jars. Keep refrigerated

(Yield about 700 gr). You can double the recipe to make more yield.

Also called meat wool or meat floss, is a dried meat product that has a light and fluffy texture (due to shredding process) similar to rough cotton. usually used as filling for various bread and pastries and side dish of "tumpeng" or traditional cone-shaped rice dish like mountain. Also this beef floss/ meat floss can be as a snack food on its own.
Beside beef and chicken, we also use fish for this floss.

HOT NEWS: I can not open "Blogspot" from Turkey

Bu siteye erişim mahkeme kararıyla engellenmiştir.

which means more or less: "This site has disabled access to the court decision"

So I try to search and tried to find out what had happend, so I found this:

Turkish court blocks Google's blogging site
Google's famous blog hosting service has been banned following complaints by digital satellite platform Digiturk in Turkey, dipnot.tv reported.

World Bulletin / News Desk
Google's famous blog hosting service, blogspot.com/blogger.com, has been banned following complaints by digital satellite platform Digiturk in Turkey, dipnot.tv reported.
Serhat Özeren, chairman of the Telecommunications and Energy Services Consumer Rights and Industry Research Association (TEDER) and head of the Internet Council at the Ministry of Transportation, said a Diyarbakır court has issued an order to block blogspot.com after Digiturk filed a complaint against the website on the grounds that it violated the company's broadcasting rights of Turkey's top football division.
Speaking in Germany while attending a CeBIT trade show, Özeren said the decision is a legal process between Google and Digiturk and only Google can solve the problem. "Google experiences the same problem in other countries as well. Only Google can appeal this decision," he said.
Explaining why not all blogspot.com pages had yet been blocked following the court order, Özeren said: "The decision has not reached all Internet providers at the same time. Providers receiving the decision will shut down the web pages while others may still be continuing. But within the two days at most, we expect the decision to have reached all providers. If the situation leading to the decision to ban the website is eliminated and Google appeals to the court, then the process may end."
Özeren added that there is an attempt to end similar court orders in the future with a new bill that has been submitted to Parliament. "If the bill is passed, we will be able to avoid these prohibition decisions which victimize everybody. [In the future] the penalties and rulings will specifically address the offending web pages that broadcast such videos as matches and TV series that are subject to copyright," he said.

Blogger Banned in Turkey – #blogumadokunma

Posted In Social Media - By Falcon On Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 With 4 Comments

Turkish Blogger users reported that Digiturk caused ban of Blogger again. As we know Digiturk, the leading satellite TV provider, sued some blogspot adressses for streaming live football matches online and Turkish courts decided to block the entire blogspot blogs including Blogger.com three years ago, in 2008. Recently some webmasters have used Blogger to stream live football matches again and as a result Digiturk has caused the ban of Blogger in Turkey.
After many Blogger users used social media to make Digiturk and Google hear their voice, Digiturk published a written press release which stated that Google Turkey was irresponsive to their requests of banning the given blogspot links which were about twenty. Turkish Blogger users are determined to unblock the access to Blogspot links and they keep protesting both Google and Digiturk using#blogumadokunma hash-tag.
Since it is not possible to stream something live through Blogger, the decision taken by Turkish court can be considered as wrong decision. Actually webmasters get an embed code from some live streaming websites and use the code in their blogs to drive traffic and monetize their short-term blogs easily. So both Digiturk and the Turkish courts should deal with those live streaming sites instead of free blog providers. Feel free to tweet this post to support Turkish Bloggers’ effort.

However,I still can access my blog from my "dashboard" page only, so I still can write and share this to you.
So forgive me if I can not active to access and follow your page with"blogspot" based.
Hopefully this is only temporary, meanwhile me and hubby look for some other way how can I -whether-built other page or something...
Hope this post I still can share to you and you can read it, you can write (post comment) me feed back as my notification that you can read this message.

Thank you.

Homemade Soy Milk (Membuat susu kedelai di rumah)

Beside of main ingredients for making "tempeh" and tofu (Tahu-Indonesian), soy bean also can be processed into milk or soy milk. Making soy milk has been developed in China in the 2nd century BC. and went into Japan then Southeast Asian countries after World War II.

Soy milk has a protein content and amino acid composition similar to cow milk. Soy milk also non cholesterol. Protein content in soy milk are influenced by soy varieties. Soy milk can be used to improve the nutritional value of food protein in rice and other cereals.

There are many benefits of soy milk, such as reducing blood cholesterol levels,Prevents Arteriosclerosis, Hypertension, Coronary Heart Disease and Stroke, Prevent Diabetes Mellitus,  Anti-Cancer. and other benefits can we get from this soy milk.

Unfortunately with those all nutrients and benefits on soy milk, lots of soy milk made from genetically (non-natural) soybeans which is absolutely not healthy and dangerous.
If we want to get the maximum benefit from this soy milk, we can make our self at home with natural soy ingredients of our own healthy choice. So, my don't we try this healthy way, Homemade. @(^_^)@

Tools We need:
- Blender
- stainless steel pans
- Filter and cheesecloth (I just use thin cotton fabric)
- Clean Bottle to keep soy milk

Ingredients:
- Soybean
- Warm water

Method (You can also see illustration picture):
A. Soak soy bean at least 8 hours or overnight. Give much water because it will expand twice.

Castle Cross-stitch Handicraft (Karajinan tangan Kristik- Gambar Kastil)

Cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches are used to form a picture. Cross-stitch is usually executed on easily countable evenweave fabric called aida cloth. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This form of cross-stitch is also called counted cross-stitch in order to distinguish it from other forms of cross-stitch. Sometimes cross-stitch is done on designs printed on the fabric (stamped cross-stitch); the stitcher simply stitches over the printed pattern.

Cross-stitch is one of the oldest forms of embroidery and can be found all over the wold. Many folk museums show examples of clothing decorated with cross-stitch, especially from continental Europe and Asia.

If you are interesting to do this crafting you can googling or visit some nice page to know and learn more about this fabulous craft like http://www.dmc.com/majic/pageServer/1z010000hy/en_US/What-is-Cross-Stitch.html
or

This is another crafting hobby that I love to do to kill my boring time beside cooking. This cross-stitch project I finished about 3 or 4 months.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL.. SELAMAT TAHUN BARU 2011 INDONESIA

Tonight, 31 December 2010, time 21.00 when I write this. Try to review my blog's journey in the last day of 2010. Until tonight as I record here, I still posted about 128 post that already published. I started this page on July 2010, so it's pretty baby actually. I remember my first post is Turkish Food Dolmalık biber. That was my 1st Turkish meal I can made and my husband liked the way I cooked it  d(^_^)b
I never officially take cooking class or what so ever, and before marry my husband, frankly speaking, as a single living alone,  I hardly ever cook for my self - I was busy at office and usually end up my self in my favorite restaurant for dinner (^_^). Anyway, after quite success cooking Turkish food without any complaint, I started self learning to cook anything. I love being in my kitchen and make things like when I was kid before.
And my 1st "restaurant look alike" meal is Chicken Steak with mushrooms sauce. I made that chicken steak because I was terribly miss that favorite dish when I was In Jakarta.

Baking cheese cake? Never. and this Japanesse style cheese cake was my 1st. After googling and learning how people make this cheese cake, carefully I learn the most basic thing to make it.. and voallaa... it was my 1st cheese cake I made @(^_^)@
Well, of course not all these posts were my 1st.. I just want to share my feeling and thought about  those post. Like for example: the most comment get, goes to : Steamed Zebra cake from left over egg white. Maybe because I think this recipe is unique and interesting cause made from (left over) egg white only. Also some of my friend also tried this recipe which made me happy. You can visit Taking on magazines one recipe at a time blog to see it, and Dailyfoodporn . Thank you for tried my recipe, and glad if you like it ^_^

I also join in one of foodbuzz site which all foodies gathering and sharing their passion about food and making it. I got some post that being choice in their TODAY'S TOP 9. My 1st foodbuzz chosen for Today's Top 9 was "Turkish Pizza" Yumurtali Sucuk Pide. And  after that I feel have more spirit to learn much more about cooking and baking.

And here my other post chosen for Today's Top 9: November 7th 2010 Tiramisu

And December 9th Choux Pastry with Cinnamon custard

I remember I started make simple choux pastry when I was at 6th grade (maybe 10 or 11 years old that time) because there was some kind of test and cooking was one of those tests d(^_^)b
During learning to cook and to bake, of course there were many of failures I made but I will never stop to learn anything. I always admire people who create such a beautiful art of food and make other people happy to taste and enjoy those food.... For me now, cooking it's not only to make food to eat, but also art which requires happy feeling and heart to create great flavor and attractive appearance of food.

Top ten favorite 2010 post according google search :

But above of all.. this Onde-Onde is my favorite of all .... @(^_^)@.. this snack is my favorite snack since I was a kid

FINALLY.. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL !  MORE PROSPERITY AND HAPPINESS  IN YEAR TO COME.
